Back from holidays, working on new features

After an amazing month of vacation in New Zealand I am back at home to work on some cool new features for Milestone 9. The news filter is evolving really nice. Not only will you be able to perform a set of actions on incoming news, you can also apply it on existing news. I will post more about it once it is polished.

Here is a list of noteworthy features I added the past days:
  • Play a Sound on incoming news
  • Re-Order Labels
  • New color picker for Labels

Problems on Windows 7 beta

RSSOwl has evolved into the best RSS reader available on any platform. Unfortunately, it has all kinds of problems on Windows 7. I hope these are addressed in a coming update. Thanks very much for providing this great software.

RSSOwl and Windows 7

I had trouble initially getting RSSOwl to work properly in Windows 7. Most of the issues were caused by the inability to open menus or do anything at all while the program was updating feeds. Once I set things up the way I am used to (single-click, my own key shortcuts, etc.), things improved greatly. There are still minor issues, however. Sometimes when switching to a different feed, the title bar still shows the name of the old feed. Jumping to unread feeds doesn't always work reliably. The filters don't always show the expected results. Overall, though, it works quite well even in the beta OS.

No more problems in Win7

Just want to update my situation in Win7. Basically I no longer have any issues. It works the way I want it to. It took some time to set things up to my preferences. I wonder how many people use the default settings, and whether they are really best for most people.
One suggestion is to make subscription to all those initial default feeds optional; e.g., put up a dialog that allows a selection, all, or none. Another is to make single-click standard, with double-clicking optional.
Anyway, it's a terrific program, for which you deserve heaps of praise and lots more users.

Good to hear that. Yes, the

Good to hear that. Yes, the list of subscriptions will be optional in the future, this was planned anyways (including an option to import feeds from a OPML file).
