We are happy to announce the availability of RSSOwl 1.0.2 and 1.1 Preview.
If you are running RSSOwl 1.0 or any older version, please update to 1.0.2. A lot of bugs have been fixed and SWT was updated to the latest version.
If you are interested in what RSSOwl 1.1 will look like, have a download of the preview-version. Please report any bugs at our bugtracker on SourceForge.
As some may know, RSSOwl's list of sample newsfeeds is very long, contains lot's of categories...and is kind of old ;)
For upcoming RSSOwl 1.1. I would like to give the list of samples a facelift.
If you are knowing of cool newsfeeds that should be added to the list of samples, please let me know (either post a comment or send a mail).
I am playing with the idea of removing the entire subscription feature from RSSOwl beginning with the next version 1.1.
For a new user its hard to understand what the difference between a favorite and a subscription is.
Subscriptions are usefull when people want to share the same newsfeeds. The newsfeeds are then stored inside a subscription (xml file) that is put on a server. Each time RSSOwl starts, the collection of newsfeeds is synchronized.
I reckon not much users of RSSOwl make use of subscriptions. I am hardly getting any feedback on this feature.
Maybe someone got a better solution that allows to keep the Subscription feature, but without confusing the user?
Dear RSSOwl users,
within the next days we're going to optimize rssowl.org's code to ensure the best overall performance. Expect some minor glitches for this reason.
In additon, we'd love to hear from you! Feel free to post your suggestions, wishlist items and general feedback :).
